Some people do not want a website that targets the whole world but instead, they want to focus to only parts of the world or country. This may be useful for local businesses that are too small to even care getting noticed by the whole world because there is no point for doing so.
One way of doing this is to incorporate keywords about the local area. For example, if a dentist in London wishes to create a website, be sure to have the keyword London dentist in the meta tags and the title if possible. This is so that whenever a person searches this particular keyword, the site will rank high for it.
In addition to that, some suggest to host the website in the country that the webmaster wishes to target. As for the London dentist example, the webmaster can host the website in a server located in the United Kingdom instead of one in the United States.
Try getting a high ranking in the local Google Maps as it will definitely help. There are ways of achieving this and a quick search on Google will tell you how to do it.
