SEO Consulting: How to Create a Great SEO Proposal for the Client

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

SEO proposal tends to tell a lot about a company. It gives out valuable information to the client on whether the SEO company knows their way around or not. Most SEO company tend to give out SEO proposals that look pretty much the same with each other. They give out no important information about the client’s website and yet a lot is written in the paper.

What is the right size for the proposal?

The most important part about the proposal is to be as concise as possible. Making a 20 page proposal might be overkill especially when there is a lot of less important information inside the proposal. Keep it real. Stick to the point and give out information in bullet forms if possible. This will give the client a sense of objectivity while checking out the proposal. Anything around 10 or less would be good.

Give something of value to the customer

Don’t be afraid to give out valuable information such as the keywords that the site might rank well in. Give something to the client that shows that the SEO company means business. Show that the company is adept in its work and they are not hesitant to benefit the client in one way or another.

Decreasing Bounce Rate

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Having a lot of visitors can never always be a good thing. It is a good thing if these visitors stay and read or buy things in the website. However, a site with a lot of visitors but a high amount of bounce rate is never good as well. This means that the visitors stayed for only a short while before going to another website.

Decreasing bounce rate may take a lot of work and it depends mostly on the site and its contents. Here is how a person can decrease his or her site’s bounce rate:

  • Improve the looks of the site – Do not have anything in striking colors and instead let it be pleasant to the eye. Instead of having old fashioned web design, try to stay with the new web 2.0 designs that are a lot attractive.
  • Increase the amount of content or make it more informative – For an eCommerce website, try to sell a lot more product so that it gives bigger choices for the potential customers. Try to have some discounts that may attract potential customers as well.
  • Target the correct and most precise keyword terms – This means that if a site sells t-shirts, do not place keywords for products that aren’t available on the site even if there is a plan on adding these products in the future. Use keywords that are the most relevant to the website.

Questions to Ask While Doing SEO Marketing

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Questions can never be bad no matter how dumb they may sound. While doing SEO marketing, there are questions that need to be answered. Some of these can be generic questions but some others can be very detailed as well.

The first question that needs to be asked is the target audience of the site. Some websites are made for the general audience but others have the potential of attracting only a specific type of audience. Some sites are made for children or teenagers while some others are made for business people. It is important to identify the target audience so that it will be a lot easier to do marketing.

Next, identify the amount of budget that is allocated for the marketing of the website. With a decent amount of budget, various marketing and promotional methods can be used. For example, a site can utilize the pay-per-click method if the site owner can allocate a small amount of money for it.

Another thing to look at is the type of promotion that the site can do. For example, a site that sells goods or services can give out free samples or discount vouchers for their products. A site that is made for a certain niche for example, gaming, can create competitions to give gamers a taste of their product or services.

Marketing Mix – Product, Price, Promotion, Place

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Every business needs to have their own marketing mix. It is what sets them apart out of other business and it makes things a lot more manageable as well. A good marketing mix can go a long way and it may determine the success of a business as well.

A marketing mix should have at least 4 different factors and these are the product, place, promotion and price.

Product – This may be the type of products that the business sells. Businesses should identify to whom do their product suit best and what will be the best type of packaging to go with it? Children like colorful packaging while adults like a much simpler packaging. All of these should be identified to make sure that it fits with the market segment

Place – In the online world, place simply means the whole look of the website. Is it suitable for people to buy the products? Does it look legit? Is the site easy to navigate through? Point is, everything should look nice and tidy and it doesn’t stop there. There should be minimal hassle for the users. Count how many clicks it would take for the users to actually buy the product. Anything below 5-6 is good and anything more than that should be investigated.

Promotion – How well does the site promote itself? Are there any promotions such as sale or discounts available for them or are there any free samples that they can try? These are just some of the many things that need to be taken to account.

Price – What type of pricing strategies does the site utilize? Is it promotional pricing where the prices are low for a small period of time and then turns to its normal price? Or is it price skimming where the prices of the products are expensive when it first come out and then slowly decreases? If the product is saturated, it is best to use the competitive pricing strategy where the product cost the same as the competitor or lower.

Promotional Methods that May Boost Sales

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Using the correct promotional method can certainly boost the sales of a website. The strategy is to lure the customers into trying the products or services available in the website. Once this is done correctly, the customers will surely fall for the bait and buy these goods that are available on the website.

There are various promotional methods that a site owner can utilize may it be online or offline.

Online methods:

  • If the product or service that are offered by the site can be produced in small quantities, site owners may opt to give free samples so that the customers will have a taste on what is currently being offered. Even if there is a bounce rate (meaning people that try these products but do not buy it) available, there will certainly be enough sales to compensate for these losses. However, be sure that the product is of a high quality so that customers will actually be interested in buying.
  • Should the site have any sale going on, do not hesitate to post the coupon code to various sites so that a lot more people would know about it.

Offline methods:

  • Give out coupons or spread flyers about any promotional events that the site may have. This can be in a specific region or throughout the country.
  • If the budget allows, promotions can also be done through the television. However, be sure that the owner has a targeted audience so that the money would not be put to waste.

These are just some of the many ways that a site owner can promote their site. Try to be creative and time the promotions well. Promotions at the start of the month can be very good as that is the time when people have just received their paychecks.
