Talkback on the comments from the readers

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Getting visitors for a website can be fun but getting constructive comments or even some conversations amongst readers can be exhilarating. Rather than ignoring these comments, the writer should dedicate some time on checking them out and talk about these comments given by the readers.

In fact, some websites or bloggers dedicate a section for talkback as well. Sometimes, this can be a lot better as compared with commenting again in the particular article. This is because creating a whole new article and giving out a link to it from the old article can give a better coverage as compared with replying comments.

In addition to that the writer can also give out updates at the new article on what is currently happening with the topic being talked about at the previous articles. The writer can also clear out any doubts that may occur in the audience.

Rather than speaking indirectly, the writer can write in first-person rather than third-person. This gives the reader a sense that they are being talked to instead. In the long term, it may result in a lot more visitors to the website and potentially a lot more subscribers as well. This may be due to the fact that the reader feels appreciated when he or she gives out a comment.

Site optimization for AOL Search

Monday, December 7th, 2009

AOL searchAOL search is one of the few dominant search engines on the Internet. Founded in 1995 by the infamous America Online company, it is certainly one of the best search engines on the net. Currently, the search engine is being backed by Google. So, ranking well in Google will definitely make the site rank well in AOL Search as well.

As usual, content plays a large role in getting good ranking for any website. So be sure to use contents that are unique and not duplicates. A good way of finding out whether the contents are unique or not, users may use services provided by CopyScape. They offer services to protect contents as well as finding duplicates.

In addition to that, there are also on-site optimizations that need to be done so that a site would rank well in search engines. Some examples (but not limited to) are Meta-tags, proper usage of h1 tags as well as keyword densities. Be sure not to over use these features so that the search engine will be in favor of these sites.

An example of an off-site optimization is getting quality back links to the site. There are numerous ways of getting this done. This involves using anchor texts which includes the link of the website intended. Anchor links can be placed in comments whenever somebody wants to post a talkback in a blog or in signatures in forums. Lately, YouTube allows users to add links to their videos. So, webmasters may want to utilize this feature as well.

Search engine optimization involves a lot of work and most of the time, this does pay off. However, this may take a little longer for new sites as they are often given less priority as compared with aged websites. All in all, make sure that the site is optimized both on and off site so that it will give the maximum results.
