Yahoo having almost 90% increase in income Q1 2010

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

The economy is certainly getting better. If you don’t believe it check out Yahoo. It has made an increase of 1% of revenue as compared with the same quarter last year. Although that may seem little, the total revenue that they made in Q1 2010 was a whopping $1.6 billion dollars.

That isn’t all, with that huge chunk of revenue, only a bit more than 10% was its total income for this particular quarter of the year. Mind you that the 10% is equivalent to more than 80% of an increase in its income as compared with 2009.

The large increase in income for the first quarter in 2010 is most probably the work of its competitor Microsoft. The company decided to compensate Yahoo by more than $78 million due to its research in the search engine.

With all of that being said and done, the increase might not last long. There will probably be another increase in its income in the next quarter but it may or it may not be as significant as this.
